Raising Awareness on Rape and Sexual Assault

Posted by sbowler on October 20, 2014

Fountain of Life is currently working with Children of Blessing Trust (COBT, an NGO that helps children with disabilities based in area 25) in raising awareness on rape and sexual assault.  Apart from FOL,  COBT has also involved a nurse from the One Stop Centre team at Kamuzu Central Hospital, a police officer from Victim Support Unit and a social worker from the Social Welfare Office to provide a complete package of how rape victims are helped by each one of the service providers.

The awareness is being carried out in eight rural communities in Lilongwe where COBT clients come from. It will take one day for each communities, eight days for the whole awareness workshop from October to Early November.

So far the communities have been very responsive  and interactive during the awareness and from their feedback they have expressed that they did not know most of the things that they learnt and they asked the team to raise awareness in the  whole Lilongwe if possible.
